Every fantasy has to face and overcome the moment of the first personal encounter. I still see myself this one night entering that little 24/7 market in Vegas, offering $100 to anyone of the lost souls who fed some one-armed bandits with quarters, for taking me posthaste to the center of town. I still feel the dusty airstream through the open car window, when the crazy old driver who accepted my offer, raced through town, ignoring all traffic rules. While his drugged wife in the backseat insulted him in the finest manner of a proud white trash wife. And I still remember the moment of truth in the glare of the ever changing light underneath the Alphawheel that marked the beginning of all the woe that cometh forth.
The graphic manifestation of the song shows in the CD booklet a symbolic illustration of the Alphawheel/High Roller, the separation of heart and mind with the centered symbol of the Whore of Babylon.
lyrics
The Race
Strangers that I paid to drive me
through town that I conjunct with thee.
Gambling on a backwoods race
throughout Vegas' asphalt maze.
One ways, driven upside down
while we crazy raced through town.
Drunk wife of the driver shout
from the backseat scolding loud.
Whispers in the desert winds
mock me and disguise my sense.
Hasten straight ahead my fate
through a town that’s crying desolate.
Driven by a dead man’s hope
balance on a hang man’s rope.
Misguided by will-o'-the-wisp
wonder why and what’s the gist.
The Conjunction
Like springs first breath of air
that gently dances with your hair.
Like a summer solstice glare
so you appeared.
Like a prelude to a kiss
that inhere eternal bliss,
it broke the seal to my abyss
where alas! I lingered.
The blossoms bloomed alive
and my heart stopped for a while,
when the heavens light beguiled
me when we met...
...underneath the Alpha Wheel
where all lies became unreal
and the maidens kiss conceal
all the woe that cometh forth.

The "Cult..." is UADA's sophomore album, and among all, the one I largely prefer. The Vocal performance, to start with, is truly outstanding, and while I really liked their debut album, this one is more varied, and overall is technically superior to anything else I've heard from UADA. Fast, aggressive, but with enchanting melodies to break in between, à la Dissection. Highly recommended! sachavonkarl74

The atmosphere on this record is amazing dark and beautiful almost spiritual at some points and crushing at others every song gave me goosebumps at some point vaguy22

What an impressive piece of black metal. This one-man hurricane is pure art. Sgah‘gahsowáh creates an haunting atmosphere. He puts so much soul in his music. Sælzer Bub
The metal’s band revelatory new record crosses genres and styles, effortlessly combining seemingly incompatible subgenres. Bandcamp Album of the Day Apr 26, 2024

Blackbraid quickly followed up their 2022 debut in 2023 with more native folk infused furious black metal. This is by no means a sophomore slump as it is equally excellent, methodical, melodical, and approachable as the first record. 9/10 RJ
